Formation School takes place on Tuesday evenings and some Saturdays over three terms.
The Tuesday evenings start at 6:30 pm and finish by 21:30 pm. Students are welcome to bring some food with them as it is an early start to the evening. We provide drinks and snacks.
Saturdays typically run from 10:00 am until 16:00 pm. We provide lunch as well as refreshments during the day.

Formation School runs at Above Bar Church in the centre of Southampton. It’s just a few minutes walk from the station, and there is plenty of parking in the city centre (though note that charges apply to most car parks until 8:00 pm).
The course costs £450 for the year. This is equivalent to approx. £12.50 for a Tuesday evening, and £25 for a Saturday.
Course materials are included, though you may also want to buy a few books. You will also have access to recordings of the sessions, slides, and handouts online. You can continue to access this content – and new material from future years – after you have completed Formation School.
We provide light refreshments on Tuesday evenings, and on the Saturdays we provide a main meal too.
You can pay the full £450 fees at the start of the course or in instalments at the start of each term.
Formation School is a partnership between Above Bar Church, and Living Leadership, as well as a number of churches around the area.
